If you’re into feng shui, you’ve probably heard that houses at the end of a T-junction have horrible feng shui. It is said that people who live there will experience severe loss.

Quite scary, isn’t it?

However, I’m telling you that the feng shui of those houses may NOT be as bad as you think or as people say. In some cases, they actually help the occupants to gain wealth. So if you happen to live in one, there’s no need to freak out.

I am not refuting this feng shui concept. Instead, I am providing you with an approach so you don’t fall into the fallacy of generalization. After all, there are about tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of homes in the U.S. that’s located the end of T-junctions. Not all of them who are living there are experiencing “severe loss”, are they?

To understand why, we need to first understand why houses at the end of T-junctions have bad feng shui.

Why Feng Shui Dislikes Houses at the End of T-junctions

One of the main reasons is that the Qi, or “energy”, coming directly from the road is coming straight towards the house. This type of Qi is detrimental to the occupants of the house because it’s too fast and strong. Just think of wind or water currents that are flowing at very high speeds. Physical objects within its path will definitely sustain some type of damage.

Some experts call this type of bad feng shui as “poison arrow”. For those of you unfamiliar with this term, it is usually used to describe a long, narrow, and straight pathway. This can apply to long corridors, alleys, and T-junction streets.

Long Narrow Alley New York 744x1024 - Is the Feng Shui of Houses Facing T-Junction Really That Bad?
Long narrow alleys are also a form of feng shui’s “poison arrow”. It has no effect when it is NOT facing a window or the front door.

Origins and Historical Context

Where this concept came from is highly debated. However, there is one explanation which made sense to me.

In ancient times, streets were used mostly by foot-traffic and horses. When horses come sprinting in one direction, the horsemen can lose control and fail to stop before they run into the home or structure at the end of the junction. It’s also harder for horses to make a sharp turn when they’re traveling at a high speed, and this is especially true if the street is too narrow. The scientific term behind this is called inertia and is commonly understood as Newton’s First Law of Motion, where an object will remain at motion unless another force is applied to it.

Horse making a turn at high speed - Is the Feng Shui of Houses Facing T-Junction Really That Bad?
When horses are traveling at a high speed, it can be quite difficult to make a sharp turn.

Perhaps that is why houses at the end of T-junctions have bad feng shui. After all, horses can weigh up to 1,000 lbs (about 450 kg) and can do quite some damage if they come crashing into your home. This helps explain why one of the ancient remedies to this solution is to erect a boulder at the end of the junction, because a well-placed boulder can sustain heavy impacts without needing maintenance and repairs.

So what are the consequences of living at the end of a T-junction? At the end of a “poison arrow”? Here’s what’s commonly said around the web.

What Might Happen to Its Occupants

Severe Loss: The bad feng shui caused by living at the end of a T-junction can create severe loss, such as loss of job, money, or health. Most of the time, you will not be living happily in this house.

Experiencing “severe loss” makes complete sense for those that have horses (or cars) that come crashing into the house. Just the repair cost alone would be enough to bankrupt someone, and we’re not even talking about the frequency of these accidents. These monetary losses can lead to severe mental stress that’ll ultimately affect the person’s health.

Many Feng Shui experts suggest the use of bagua mirrors as cure because it reflects the negative incoming Qi away. The convex mirror is best for this situation.

Indecision: Symbolically, people living here are usually “at a crossroads”. They will have trouble making decisions and progress and movements may seem to be blocked.

Spiritual Encounters: There are also sayings where this type of house has more visitations from “spiritual beings”. It is said that spirits traveling along the road does not know how to make a turn at the T-junction, thus ending up entering the house at the end of the T-junction. Most Feng Shui experts use the feng shui bagua mirror as a remedy for this problem.

Whatever the consequence or reason, we know that feng shui highly advise against living at the end of a T-junction.

But that’s just what feng shui says. What about hearing from those who actually lived there?

Top Reasons Why T-junctions are Disliked

Many people have lived at the end of a T-junction to tell their tale. Though some people have credited their losses (divorce, loss of job) to the T-junction feng shui, not all have experienced “severe loss” as mentioned above.

Here are some reasons why people disliked living at the end of T-junctions, as mentioned in the forums on Trulia and Zillow (the forum on Zillow has been removed):

Headlights

This is the most common complaint I’ve heard from people living at the end of T-junctions.

I’m sure most of us DON’T like to be under the spotlight. That is what the police does to you when they pull you over at night. That is what the light towers are for at prison. It is used to single you out. It is to make you feel like you’re “targeted”.

car night headlights shining straight at you - Is the Feng Shui of Houses Facing T-Junction Really That Bad?
Most people feel uncomfortable when a car is moving straight at them.

At night, the headlights of the incoming cars will shine directly into your house. These headlights can be quite a nuisance, especially if the T-intersection is a busy one. You are likely to be distracted because your attention will heedlessly go to the movement of those headlights or the shadows casted by those lights. At times, you may even feel like you’re the “target” of the incoming car.

Although this was the most commonly cited nuisance when living at the end of a T-junction, it can be remedied by closing the blinds or pulling the curtains together. Though some light may still shine through, these effects can be greatly minimized.

Noise

People like to live in quiet neighborhoods, and most are willing to pay a premium for it. When you live at the end of a T-junction, however, you won’t be enjoying too much tranquility.

First, it’s because there’s more traffic. Instead of one street, you are living at an intersection of two streets. This usually means more cars driving around where you live.

Second, there’s at least one stop-sign at these junctions. This means more stop and go traffic where you’ll be hearing cars braking and accelerating. Hopefully your neighbors don’t drive one of those noisy Harley Davidson motorcycle or other types of muscle cars.

Pollution

Automobile speed changes bring more than just noise. It also brings an increased level of pollution.

Whenever a car starts accelerating, it pumps gasoline into the engine, resulting in an increased level of exhaust fumes.

So if you like to keep your windows open, you are likely to smell those nasty fumes. Of course, this depends on the wind direction and whether that automobile has passed a smog check.

In the long run, exposing yourself to this pollution can definitely cause a “loss in health”.

Accidents

Accidents are the second most common complaint.

From a story that I’ve read on Zillow, a person used to pass by a home at a T-intersection of two major roads every day when he was attending high school. It seemed to him as if a car would hit the house every six months.

large CarCrash - Is the Feng Shui of Houses Facing T-Junction Really That Bad?
Houses facing a T-junction are more likely to be damaged by negligent drivers. Springfield- Staff Photo by Mark M.Murray.

Another person provided a story where a sleepy driver, at 3 am, didn’t notice the T-intersection with a stop sign and just kept driving. His car ran into the house at the end of the T-junction, into the living room all the way to the kitchen.

With that said, every car driving towards the house has a potential to crash into it. They can range from human negligence such as drunk driving, sleepiness, and poor eye-sight, to mechanical failures such as faulty brakes and blown tires.

Why T-junctions may NOT be as bad as most people say

If you look closely, you’ll notice that feng shui dislikes speedy Qi that rushes to the house. As for humans, they dislike the nuisances brought by automobiles and incoming traffic.

But what if we take the automobiles out of the picture? And what if we can slow down the incoming Qi?

I believe that if we can slow down the speed of the incoming Qi and traffic, living at the end of the T-junction won’t be as bad as most people say. Here’s what I mean.

Shorter Streets

A shorter street that faces the house means that the “poison arrow” is also shorter. This means that its negative effect is greatly reduced. By shorter streets, I mean that the length of the street is only about 100-200 feet (30-60 meters).

But the shorter street should not be a one-way street or a narrow street. The street should allow at least two cars that are traveling in opposite directions to easily pass by each other.

As for human concerns, shorter streets mean cars have less distance to accelerate. So even if a car is experiencing faulty brakes at that moment, the accident would not be as damaging.

Speed Allowed

By speed allowed I mean two things – the legal speed limit and the curvature of the street. The legal speed limit can deter drivers from speeding and should reduce the number of accidents as described in some of the stories above.

On the other hand, a curved road is a natural way to prevent speeding. In feng shui, the curvature would not make the Qi come rushing like a “poison arrow”. In other words, the Qi would not gain enough momentum and strength to bring “severe loss.”

“Dead” Neighborhood

What if you live at the end of a T-junction where there’s absolutely no traffic of any sort, even though the road that leads to your house is long, straight, and narrow?

Crawford Texas Ranch - Is the Feng Shui of Houses Facing T-Junction Really That Bad?
Little traffic goes to this house, which is unlikely to create any serious problems.

In this instance, you’ll definitely avoid the headlights, pollution, noise, and accidents. Although you may feel that the neighborhood is “dead” quiet, the tranquility and peace that you’re able to enjoy is unmatched.

Living in a “dead” neighborhood is also likely to solve the “poison arrow” issue. With less traffic, there will also be less energy pointed towards the house, which is unlikely to create any serious problems.

Some T-Junctions Actually Bring Auspicious Feng Shui

Not all T-junctions will bring the detrimental T-junction Feng Shui. First, to fit the definition of T-junction, the size of the road, size of the house, the surrounding of the road, and the surrounding buildings all need to be considered.

Also, there’s the direction of the incoming T-junction, which could bring auspicious Qi. This depends on which direction it’s coming from and time. I offer a service that can help you identify whether the T-junction will bring fortune or not.

Conclusion

Living at the end of T-junctions can be quite stressful for some. Most people are bothered by the noise, headlights, pollution, and the potential for accidents from incoming cars. Plus, feng shui says that it brings “severe loss” to the occupants of that house.

However, not all T-junctions are the same, and not all of them bring nuisance and bad feng shui.

If the street leading to the house is short, curved, or has minimal traffic, there will be less energy pointed towards the house, which and unlikely to bring any negative effects.

    Hey Victor Chueng,

What about a T-intersection where the road is a one way road? Basically moving away from the house?

      Hey Chu, nice diagram!

It looks like two one-way streets. Though some would say that the “poison arrow” is still there, I wouldn’t worry too much about it if I were you. Plus, you won’t have potential accidents because traffic is moving away from you!

To be accurate, it is best to consult a professional so curvatures, size of street, size of front yard, etc. are all taken into consideration. Cheers!

Hi Victor, could you help me look into the house. The address is 42 Cleveland square W2 London. It has a 100m plus length road leading to the house, if you look at it on the map, it actually shows that the road is slightly slanted. Traffic in the area is low as most cars only come here to get into their homes as This is mainly a residential area only. What can I do to reduce the Shaqi if any? Also, I only use this home as a vacation home, will that have any impact on me and my family?

        1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

          Hi Michelle,
Planting some bushes/trees can help reduce the Shaqi. Some masters say this will help, but the shaqi wouldn’t be completely blocked.
Good thing you only use it as a vacation home. You won’t be impacted if you don’t stay in the house for long!

          Hi victor

Half of my house is located perpendicular to a short closed court in the neighborhood. It’s not a busy street. Is this bad luck?

          1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

            Hi Tina,
That’s not always the case. Direction, size and width of street, where the house sits at the end, city vs single-family houses all needs to be considered for an accurate answer.

        Dear,

Planning to buy a house near mom with altzheimer to help her out. A house near is avaliable but it is last near dead end street. The house is big and sunny but it is last on the street. The entrance is not straingt to tje steet. Should we look for sth else?

          Hi Anna,
It is not possible to give you advice without a full audit of the house. Being last on the street and entrance is not straight to the street are both good factors so far.

Hi Victor, I live at the end of a t junction and since I have been here I had been terribly depressed at the beginning of our rental lease we have been here for approximately 18 months and first I was hit by depression and dark moods for the first half of the 18 months but in the last 9 months I have lost a sister a brother in december died by drowning in his pool at home 12 days after that my partner had a major truck accident and ended up having major surgery on his skull as he had caved it in , the February another brother passed away ,my partner’s pay is atleast $400 less a week and my dad just passed away on the 15th of this month and I am currently going through bone marrow biopsies to check for blood cancers , I quite literally can’t wait to move as enough is enough and a new beginning is needed . That is my experience in a t junction home definitely one of the worst times of my life so much loss

      1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

Thanks for sharing your experience, Peggy, and I’m sorry for all that’s happening to you. Were all your family members living in the same house?
It sounds like all these accidents are related to the “spilling of blood” (血光), which is one result the Feng Shui of T-junction house can manifest. Wishing you the best!

    Hi Victor Chueng,

What if there is roundabout at the T junction, it will make cars reduce the speed.
The house is also slightly missing out the point of direction of the road.

    cheers

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Insu,

You’re on the right track! If there is a roundabout that reduces the speed, the energy won’t come “rushing” in. And if the house is missing out the point of direction of the road, then you have nothing to worry.

      Cheers!

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

Hey lakshmi, from the layout, there’s nothing to worry if you’re in plot 65. Shared driveway is still a T-junction, but its effects are nothing compared to a busy street. Also, the landscape will help soften the effects of a T junction. Hope this helps!

    Hi Victor,
We are looking to buy a home which is on T junction. It is slightly off T junction. Half of the home looks at the t junction road.
Please see below, the depiction of it the t junction and the home (X1) we are interested in. Other Xs are neighboring homes.
The front door is also facing the T. Both the roads are two way street with the dead-on road being only around 250 ft long. Please note that this is inside a community with very low speed limits. The front door is facing approximately NE. The road runs NE as well. Right side of the road is a kids park and left side are other homes within the community.

Hey Bangari, it looks like the incoming traffic just missed the main entrance of your house, so you will be fine. Plus, it looks like there’s a small walk-way and trees at the end of that T-junction, which will help shield and protect you from the incoming Qi or drivers that don’t follow the speed limit. Hope this helps!

Hi Victor, I have just bought a house right in a cross roads, it has a mini roundabout out front so the traffic has to slow and a beautiful view out front of a common and is lined with trees. It’s south west facing and I want to put a low wall and some plants to shield the house. Will this work?

        1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

          Hi Katy,
I wouldn’t say that it’ll work without fully seeing the place, as there may be other issues present. But yes, the idea is right!

      2. Jessica

Hi Victor, I’ve not even known about T Junction Feng Shui. We are buying a townhouse closest to the street, the front door face north but T Junction street is curved and starts south and curves to west where it will meet the side of our house. Our house is dunked down below the street and a big fence and our courtyard is there.
        Is this an issue?
The townhouse is not directly in front of the T Junction I don’t think.
The address is 229 Whites Road Lota.
        Thank you

Hey Victor, my house is located in a t junction road inside a subdivision. I have built wood fence and metal fence for my garage facing the roads. Is that good enough to protect my house from negative elements ?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Minh,

Low traffic is good. One thing to look for – does the road lead straight to the front door? If not, you’re all good! If so, try creating some barriers – like a wall of bushes.

      Thanks!

  4. Vicky

Hi, I live in a house where 2/3 is on a T. The street leading to the T is curved and short. House is facing east and the front door is facing northeast of the house. The front of the house is also a casita and the front entrance is behind the casita next to the courtyard. Hopefully my explanation made sense. Just want to know if this is okay. I also placed a feng shui mirror (octagon shape) on top of the front door. Thank you.

  5. Vicky

I forgot to share that the 2/3 of the house facing the T is the 3 car garage and the garage door is facing directly to the street.

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

Hey Vicky, you don’t really need to worry about it. The street is curved and short, so incoming Qi won’t come rushing at you. This alone is enough.

Plus, it faces your garage door and doesn’t really disrupt your living. Also, it sounds like the casita gives you another layer of protection.

      You’re in good shape!

      -Victor

      1. Vicky

Thank you for your prompt response. Now I feel much better about my home. I also read that since the garage door is facing the intersection and there is a room above the garage, it gives negative energy to the home. Is that true? If that’s the case, can a bagua mirror help?

  6. jien

    Victor,
Do you have any article about west group people living in a east group house?

    Thanks,
    Jien

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hey Jien,
I don’t have any articles about that besides my ebook. But here’s what I can tell you according to my experience: your situation should be OK for a short period of time, assuming that everyone in your family belongs to west group living in a east group house (also assuming that our “east group house” definition is the same).

If the breadwinner belongs to east group but everyone else belongs to west group, and you’re living in a east group house, then you’re OK.

      Hope this helps.

    Hi Victor,

I am hesitating to purchase a property which is in a new community being constructed. As you enter the house, its an open area which leads to the backyard door. The kitchen and living room windows all face the backyard and a T-section road with a stop sign. However, there will be a wall between the backyard and T-section road.

This is a two story house with bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom is on the side that T-section road is facing.

Could you please advise if this property is worth investment or it is no good, in terms of energy, health and prosperity.

    Thank you,
    Mary

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Mary,

Without an expert looking at the house, it’s really hard to answer your question. But here’s what I can tell you from what you described:

The front door shouldn’t lead straight to the backyard door (although it can easily be cured by putting a divider/tall shelf in between). The T-section road has a wall divider and does not lead to the front door, so you’re OK with that.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need a consultation. I can refer someone to you.

    Victor,
Does the location of the stair matter? A single story home that have a stair to go down to the basement and not up. The stair well entrance is not directly facing the entrance but is very visible like a hole.

The floor plan is very open.

    Is that bad?

    Jien

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hey Jien,
The location of the stair does matter, and it’s good that the entrance is not directly facing the entrance. It’s hard for me to tell without seeing it.

I suggest that you hire a Feng Shui professional to take a look. That way, you can have all your questions answered. Let me know if you need a referral.

        Victor,
I think I asked about west group vs. east group house. How critical is the grouping? Is there way to alter the color or front to accomodatr when the house facing does not match?

        Thanks,
        Jien

        1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

          Hi Jien,
I think I replied to your earlier question about east vs. west group. The grouping is critical in terms of eight mansions, but it’s not everything because many other considerations are needed.
When the house’s face direction doesn’t match, use the feng shui five element of the front door to match it with your five element (by birth year). If the five element is not a match, along with the east vs. west group analysis, then there is a problem. Colors, in my opinion, does minimal influence.

    Hi Victor,
I am planning to buy a house and recently view a house at the end of a dead end road (refer diagram below). The house is a double storey semi-D (Lot 1556) with its front door facing east (facing Lot 1557). Is there a problem with the dead end road?
Also, the fencing at the back and right side (bordering 1859) is very high, consisting of 7′ concrete wall and another 2′ iron rod fencing on top, making it 9′ in total height. The fencing in front of the house bordering Lot 1557 is also concrete wall but of normal height of 5′. Is there a problem with the high fencing at the back and side of the house?

      Hi Paul,

First, I do not think I can give solid advice just by commenting (I can’t even read the diagram), so don’t use this information on whether to buy this house. But as for your question, being at a dead end road should be OK if there is not much traffic, and the road is not too long and narrow. Tall fences at the back and on the side are OK.

If you really want feng shui to help you decide on your purchase, I suggest you find a consultant to help. Do you need a referral?

  10. yang yang

Hi victor, your article is very helpful. Thanks! I am considering buying a house (A ) right next to a T-junction house (B). The front doors of A and B are facing north-east, and the drive way of B is facing the two-way community road (about 100 meters long) in a quiet neighborhood. A is not in the T-juntion but I am afraid that A will suffer more or less from the the same problems: noise, light and air pollution, hazard, etc. What is your opinion? P.S. I have two small kids.

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Yang,

You’re right about suffering from the same kind of problems with (B), but the degree of problem will be less. If the street is not too busy, then you’ll be fine.

Buying a house is a big decision, so don’t use my comment as the only consideration!

    hi Victor.

How about for apartments on the 8th floor? The main door of the apartment is directly facing the T junction, does a higher floor negate the impact?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Stan,
In my opinion, higher floor does negate the impact. Although some experts say that all occupants of the building will get affected, its influence is not as strong compared to houses in the same situation.

    Hi Victor,

My husband and I saw a house in 87 Blydenburg Ave Smithtown, NY 11787 but it is directly in the tzone, The street of the tzone seems to curve and its short. Its busy street in the day but quiet at night. The door might be facing the street slightly. I posted the link below. However, everything else about the house is perfect, its nearby a great school district etc. Whats your opinion about this? Would this have negative feng shui?

      Hi Nimfa,
It looks like the house is OK because incoming traffic coming straight would miss the house. Here’s a test you can use – try standing right in front of your front door. When incoming cars come, do you feel threatened/uncomfortable? If you feel fine, then you’re good!
      -Victor

  13. Tony

    Hi Victor!
so as long as the road doesn’t go directly into the front door, I should be good right? The house I’m interested in is at the end of a T intersection but the road goes into like half the drive way

    Thanks a bunch

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Tony,
Yes, you’re right. As long as you don’t mind the lights and other nuisances that I mentioned in this post, you will be ok.
      -Victor

  14. Sri

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for the info. Road is more of L-Shape and If the home has 30% facing road, would that be okay?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Sri,
Assuming the L-shaped road is more curved, the energy would not be “rushing” as fast – just think of automobile traffic. And as long as the road doesn’t face your front door, you should be ok, besides the other nuisances mentioned in this post.
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Pagiym,
It does seem that the road leads straight to the garage and front door, which is what you should be avoiding. Plus, the road is pretty straight.
Try standing in front of the garage/front door facing towards the road, do you feel comfortable? Also, you might want to ask about previous occupants and how they fared. Good luck!
      -Victor

  15. Sue

    Hi Victor,

Can you take a look at our house? It’s located right on T junction and our drive way and 2 rooms above the drive way directly faces the road.
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bww_IDUsrNcmSk4yTnRNS0dvT1U/view?usp=sharing
Our house faces the road but at the end of the road (3 blocks down) there’s a house that’s facing ours. See on this image (our house is starred): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bww_IDUsrNcmemR3dnh3YWlOUFk/view?usp=sharing
Is there any advice that you can give us to make our house better feng shui?
Also it’s a quiet street and not many traffic coming from front of our house and most cars slow down significantly or completely stop before turning to our street

    Thank you!
    Sue

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Sue,
Good to hear that your street is quiet. And it looks like your front door is not facing the street, so don’t be too worried about it! Further, assuming that you drive on the right side of the street, the incoming traffic would just avoid your house!
As for the house on the other end, don’t worry too much about it. It’s quite far away from you!
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Fernie,
Looks like the street has a little curve, which helped soften up the poison arrow. Also, there’s a front yard with two trees in front, which can also help block some of the incoming Qi.

    Hi victor,
Your article is very helpful. Thank you.

My husband and I have recently looked at the house situated at 1/8 Packard st, Keilor downs, VIC 3023, the very first house facing the road. The house is beautiful but hesitating to buy this due to curved T junction (street coming towards the house is Hispano drive) . An old house is refurbished and made up like a brand new house. Please visit this link to see the house. http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-keilor+downs-124210578. The entrance door of the house is exactly facing the T junction, however the door is approximately 8 meters away from the T junction. The gap covered with front lawn and drive way. House is facing West direction. We are in dilemma whether to buy or not. Please give us some suggestions.

I will look forward for your reply.

    Thanks
    Anitha

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Anitha,
I went to Google street view, and it looks like there were trees in between the T-junction and your front door. This MAY solve this issue.
Buying a house is a big decision. You should definitely consider hiring a trusted consultant to identify other Feng Shui issues if there are any! A good one can tell what was happening with the occupants just by looking at the house.

Thank you very much Victor. This will definitely help us solve our problem.

    Hi Victor!
Where planing to do a house construction early next year ,our lot is dirrectly facing the street, the road is quite long but not too bc because some lot were still not occupied yet.. according to our house plan the road was dirrectly facing the garage and there is a door on the second floor facing the road which is our family area.. what do you think about it? Any advice? Thanks in advance..

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Seth,
Cures for T-junction facing your home can be tricky. Having the road leading to garage is a better than having it lead to your front door.
There are ways to cure it, such as having trees or something to be placed in between. I suggest you find an expert to take a look at your home before you commit to construction!

      Hi Brian,
From the maps, it looks like the house just missed the T-junction. Stand in front of the house and look towards the street and see how you feel.

  19. Daniela

    Hi Victor,
We live in an 1800s house that is on top of a hill but at a T junction. We face a mountain on the west so the sun sets there.
My house is higher than the street level so you have to go up like 10 steps. But it is centered to face the street so: main door, living room, dining room, master bedroom, bathroom And my baby’s room face the junction.
Also I have a huge tree in my front yard. It is double the height of the house.
What do you suggest besides the bagua mirrors to protect it?
    Thanks!

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Daniela,
The huge tree in the front yard will protect you. Some people like adding waist-high bushes or other “natural” wall to protect your space and make you feel safe.
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi NS,
It seems that the T-junction just missed the front door. Also, there seems to be trees to help block the incoming Qi from the T-junction, making this property OK, but ONLY in terms of T-junction. If you want answers about negative effects on health and wealth, the internal Feng Shui should be considered as well. Let me know if you need an expert to take a look.

      Hi Ramananda,
Both houses are about the same.
Here’s the test you can use: stand in the front door of both houses and face the street. Whichever one feels less of an impact would be your choice.

    Hi Victor,

Can you help me out? The community is townhomes. The home layouts are with 2 car garage and a soild front door to the side. Walking straight through the home would bring onto the deck over looking a pond. On the second level is the master bedroom with one window center over the garage.
We need help picking between lots 0245 and 0243. 0245 brings and open view from the master window however is this to much for the incoming?

    Qi?http://cdn.calatlantichomes.com/files/webcommunityhomesitemappdf/634db475-5d3a-e611-9c05-02bfcd947d8b/Phase%201%20Color%20Rendering%20-%20WATERS%20EDGE.pdf?v=63617178013

    Thank you!
    Tom

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Tom,
The pond wouldn’t be a problem. Just make sure there’s no mirror facing it.
On the other hand, looks like there’s a small T-junction on 0245 from the streets within the community. That’s what you should be more concerned about. Considering that the street is quite long, the impact could be bigger. Hopefully it doesn’t face the front door.
Also, you should consider other aspects of Feng Shui rather than just these. The interior of the two could be quite different!

    Hi Victor,

    Please see this picture: https://imgur.com/a/Ai4S6

We are considering lot #41. The house would face the T junction for the most part. To the left (dark grey line) will be a walking path. Is this all okay for feng shui? What if we put the garage/driveway by where the T junction is and the front door more towards the right so it is further away from the T junction? Or would the driveway at the T junction make it look too much like a continuation of the road? I’m hoping the walking path would help alleviate some of the negative energy from the T junction, but it is kind of off to the side.

    Thank you!

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Tara,
You got a good point. A driveway may seem like a continuation of the road. Using a different color may be able to do the job.
And just like you said, placing the front door further away from the T junction is also a good idea.
From the image, the road seems a little curvy, so the incoming energy is not as strong.

  22. thila

hi im planning to buy house which is facing North east and T junction, the T junction is facing my entrance and its death end which is back lane of 2 row houses. is this okay to buy?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Thila,
In terms of the info you provided, you definitely have a T-junction Feng Shui problem. It can be solved in various ways, such as using trees, bushes, stones, or some sort of obstruction.
However, buying a house is a big decision. There are many other factors to consider other than the T-junction. My advice is to consult with an expert to see whether the house is a good fit for you or not.

  23. Chris Gonzales

    Good morning Victor.
I plan to purchase a house on a quiet neighborhood, but suddenly got scared when I remembered you talking about the poison arrow. I would like to ask you opinion on the location. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/5714-N-34th-St-25_McAllen_TX_78504_M75521-15760
    Thank you very much.
I’m also looking at another house on the same street. It missed the “arrow” narrowly hitting the fencing of the house.
    http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/5724-N-34th-St_McAllen_TX_78504_M82458-51852
Thank you for your advice. More power to you!

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Chris,
I can’t really tell much from the images. But if poison arrow is your concern, just make sure it doesn’t lead towards your front door.
When buying a house, the surrounding Feng Shui (like poison arrow) is just one thing to consider. I suggest you find an expert to take a look before you make the big decision!
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Daniela,
It looks like the street leading to the house is a bit curved, so the energy of the poison arrow is lessened (it’s still there). Also, it looks like it doesn’t lead directly to the front door, so you should be ok.
However, the road is just one factor. You should also take a look at the interior Feng Shui and see whether the house is suitable for you and your family. Good luck!

      Hi Stessy,
I tried looking at Google Earth, but the image wasn’t clear.

  26. Alexandra

    Hello!
My boyfriends family is most likely buying a house with two back apartments (both side by side and a floor higher than the house in front) that are on a t-junction. From what I can tell on google maps, the road flows towards the living room window that is to the right of the front door. In regards to the two back apartments, it seems to be flowing more directly towards the apartment on the right.
I told them that t-junctions are not feng shui and they intend to put Bagua mirrors above the doors. They also intend to put up a fence around the property and plant life. There is a large tree in the front yard and two in the strip in front of the sidewalk.
    Will that help?

Going to try my hand at a diagram:

    Tree tree
    S —————- | aprt
    I —driveway– | #
    D | h | 1
    ———————/ E | /o ———
    ———————- W | u | aprt

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Alexandra,
I can’t picture your situation in my mind (apartments and houses together?). But yes, plant life and fences will help. And if the T-junction doesn’t hit the front door, I suggest NOT to use a Bagua mirror.
      -Victor

  27. Alexandra

Well the diagram failed as it was chopped in half. Sorry 🙁

Hello, i am planning to buy a property but its in T- intersection. Iam worried about bad fortune. What do you think please let me know.thanks

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Jen,
T-junction has the potential to bring bad fortune. However, its effects are greatly reduced if it doesn’t face your front door. So try standing in front of the front door and look out to check.

  32. Florencia de luca

Hi Victor! My husband and I are thinking about buying a gorgeous house that is on a low traffic T intersection. It has the garage door, the formal dinning and a 2 rooms upstairs facing the T intersection and a good size garden with a tree on it at front. The kitchen and the living room area are facing the back garden. The back yard is big but face a luxury apartments… We are thinking that we can plant some trees to interrupt their sights to the house…
We really love the planning and all the features of this houses but trying to figure out what was keeping buyers to offer in this house we learn about feng shui…What do you think? It’s a bad investment?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Florence,
I can’t really give good advice without really looking at the property. But just a couple of pointers:
      1) If the T-intersection doesn’t face the front door, and with the tree, you’re in good shape.
      2) Planting trees to block the sight from apartments is a good idea.
      3) Ideally, the living room area should be at the front of the house.
That’s all I can give you without looking at the property. Let me know if you need a consultation.
      -Victor

      1. Florencia

Hi Victor! Thank you so much! We felt like home the moment we enter, we felt light and happy so, I’m going to do as much as I need to block the bad energy that could enter from the front and back door but…The feeling we felt from the neighborhood , street and the house was warm and friendly.
Today we went again and I did the test of looking at the street from the door and I just felt happy. So I’m gonna plant trees, put a small fountain at the entrance and learn more stuff from your blog.
I do not bealive that just for living on a T intersection your life it’s going to be bad
I do bealive you have to learn about it and make a difference:)

  34. Rajesh

    Hello Victor,
I am interested in a lot that faces a T intersection. I am not entirely sure if this lot has the bad effects of a T. It is lot 55 facing Espina in this link below:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByjeBDmtFSGFRnlrYWxQZVZDSDV5aWw3RDRZTTh3Qng4TE1V/view?usp=drivesdk

It’s a short street facing into the house with just 3 homes in each side. The street hits part of the garage and there will be room right behind and above the garage.

Appreciate your thoughts on this lot.

    Thanks

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Rajesh,
It looks like the street just barely missed the house. But just to be sure, stand in the front door and see if you feel any incoming traffic coming your way. If so, having plantations in front to block the view would do.
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Francis,
You’d have to look at whether the T junction faces the front door. Also, it looks as if the road is curved and not straight, so the incoming Qi is a less potent than other junctions.
This is all I can tell you. Whether it’s a good buy in terms of Feng Shui depends on many other factors.
      -Victor

  35. Darwin

hello Sir, my house is in the T junction exactly on the center of the road but the location is inside the subdivision where not busy traffic and not much car passing though our street. Please let me know about your opinion regarding my house. Thanks

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Darwin,
In this case, it is much better. Just watch to see if it’s facing your front door or your windows. If it is, plant trees or find a way to cover the junction and you’ll be fine.
      -Victor

  36. Sophia Ignacio-Prevatte

    Hi Victor,

My brother is very interested in buying a nice house in a cul-de-sac. However the road happens to dead end into the house. Please see the link below. I’ve had a bad experience similar but my road was coming downhill to me, so a much faster Qi and nothing was slowing the poison arrow that lead straight to our door. Although, a Bengua mirror gift that was placed in the huge front window I believed worked until my (now) ex-husband removed it because he said it was all BS.

This house my brother’s looking at is on a flat road and wondering if bushes or even a tree planted on front would repel the poison arrow. And even perhaps a Bengua mirror on top of the front door or garage…?? Thoughts….? Or should he just pass on it?

    Thanks a bunch!

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Sophia,
You got that right. Bushes or even a tree planted in front can block the incoming Qi. Here’s the same concept as mentioned by Uncle Dixer: https://fengshuinexus.com/blog/answers/how-to-identify-y-junction-feng-shui-house/
You shouldn’t decide whether to buy a house just based on this. There are many other factors that you should consider, such as when its built, the sitting and facing direction, and it’s relationship with the date of birth of the occupants.
      -Victor

    Hi Victor,
This house we are looking to buy, the drive way is at the T section. its a private drive way. is this still a problem or can we create landscape around the front door?
    http://www.4antilles.com

    thank you

    Caryn

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Caryn,
It’s better if the T junction doesn’t lead towards the front door. Creating landscape is a great way to mitigate this.
      -Victor

      1. Caryn W

        Hi victor
So I don’t think I explained it well. So a private driveway that leads straight to the front door is still considered a road? Or is a driveway not the same as a public road?
It goes straight up to the house. Is it best not to buy or can be changed with landscaping?

        1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

          Hi Caryn,
I’m not sure how long the driveway is. Ideally, a private driveway (inside a gate) is curved, with landscaping like a water fountain in the middle. It is not the same as a public road, and the incoming Qi will definitely be less.
Curved roads leading to the door is favored. It represents more of nature and is preferred by most people.
          -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Ganesh,
Speaking only in terms of the T-junction, it does seem that the incoming traffic would go straight into the front door. If you really like this house, how about planting a tree in the front yard?
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi,
If lights are an issue, try adding blinds/covers on your windows. Another way is to plant trees at the end of the T-junciton.

    Hi Victor

I would like to know bad Qi is coming into my house.
My house is facing a T-junction, actually two garage doors face the T-junction, not a front door.
    My address is — Canada.
My neighborhood is very quiet, small, and low traffic.
Could you please give me your advice.

    Thank you

  41. Leenie

Hi! Thanks for you’re info! If a T-Junction is going straight to front door, I see that one remedy may be too plant a tree or bushes in front. However, isn’t a tree blocking the front door also bad feng shui?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Leenie,
In the case of T-junction, the tree is meant to reduce the negative impact of the incoming Qi. If there’s no strong incoming Qi like a T-junction, then the tree would blocking the “good” that should be coming in. Hope this answers your question!
      -Victor

  42. Liz C

I had never heard of this before until we recently put our house up for sale, Asians and India buyers say they won’t buy the house due to the T in the road, anything a homeowner can do to attract these buyers even with the T in the road directly in front of our house? We live in Redmond, WA in Microsoft’s backyard so quite a few buyers are Asian and or India

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Liz,
It won’t be an easy task. Try planting bushes and/or a tree (not too big) at the end of the T-junction as it can help alleviate some of this Feng Shui concern. More nature also makes your property look more appealing!
      -Vicor

      1. christiansonliz13

Victor, I stood on my front porch and took a photo the T forms in front of our living room windows not directly to our front door and there is a tree at end of driveway does this help at all? Or should we plant some more bushes or trees. I read if the T forms directly to your front door thats a problem but its not dorectly in front of our front door! Liz

        1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

          Hi there,
The effects are less when it is not facing your front door, and even lesser when there’s a tree at the end of the driveway (so yes, it helps). If you still get bothered by it, then feel free to plant some more bushes/trees to your liking.
          -Victor

Hi Victor, could you help me look into the house. The address is 42 Cleveland square W2 London. It has a 100m plus length road leading to the house, if you look at it on the map, it actually shows that the road is slightly slanted. Traffic in the area is low as most cars only come here to get into their homes as This is mainly a residential area only. What can I do to reduce the Shaqi if any? Also, I only use this home as a vacation home, will that have any impact on me and my family?

  43. Jemae

Hi, my house is on slight t junction, the road is not facing a front door however it is facing a huge window, is this still bad?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Jemae,
It’s still bad but not as bad. You can try planting some trees/bushes to obstruct the window’s view to the T-junction. That should lessen its effect.

  44. Arun Kumar Singh

    Hi Victor,

We are looking to buy a house at the end of T-Section. Its a inner street in the HOA community and there is not much traffic. Parking on the street is restricted so there are less guests roaming around. The street faces the garage door and there is a walk-path on the side that leads to the main door. Above garage, we have 2 bedrooms.

This is the house – https://www.redfin.com/CA/Fremont/585-Saddleback-Ter-94536/home/1990631.

What are you thoughts on this house?

      1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

        Hi Arun,
There is one master who told me that if the T-junction road is bigger than the actual house, you won’t really get a problem, like what I see in the image. (Not sure if other masters would say the same)
My suggestion is that you ask how the previous owners fared when living there. Ask if their life improve or went downhill? It’s hard to get a straight answer, though.
        -Victor

        1. Arun

Hi Victor, thanks for responding! As you said, its hard to get a straight answer from the previous owner when they are trying to sell the house. They have lived there for 10+ years and are very elderly. Do you think its ok given that the door does not face the T junction (Its on the side of the house via a walk way)? Also, there is a small Tree which hides the walk way to the door (Visible in the street view of the map). Also the master bedroom is not at the top of garage (the guest bedrooms are).

          Thanks,
          Arun

          1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

            Hi Arun,
With the front door not facing the T-junction, the effects are definitely lessened. The only thing you need to watch out for is time. In some years, the effect of the T-junction can be quite potent. Definitely get a trusted master to take a look if you can!
            -Victor

        2. Marco Salcedo

          Hi Victor,
I plan to buy a house in a gated village. It is facing a street that is parallel to the village perimeter wall. On the other side of the wall is a t junction and it can be seen from the window on the second floor of the house. Can that be considered as a house facing t junction and therefore, inauspicious? Appreciate your advice.

  45. Ron

    Hi Victor,

We are interested in buying house but its in a t Junction, the Living room’s Window is on the path of the incoming traffic..
But the Main Door appears to be sightly away on the path of incoming traffic but if we consider the outgoing direction then the door frame is in its path.

I have sent the property details in the email.. Can you please advice..

    Thank you…

  46. RM

Wow. I refer to my 30s as my tragic years. I never knew that living in house at a T junction was bringing me the bad luck. Severe loss is an understatement for what I experienced in that house. Financial ruin and death of children. Everything improved after we moved out of that house. Don’t ever buy a house at a T junction.

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi RM,
Great to hear that everything’s going great! The strength of the T-junction also strengthens and weakens, depending on what year it is relative to its incoming direction.

      Hi Mp3mahes,
Based on your drawing, it looks like the road just missed the 0. I cannot comment whether it’s a good idea to buy this house because I know nothing about you or the house.

  48. Miguel

    Hi Victor,

I’m looking at buying this home but unsure due to the T in the road. The road that leads up to it is not long [only one block]. If you have any feedback, I would really appreciate it. Here is the address:

409 Brighton Loop, Los Alamos, NM 87547

Thank you so much in advance,

    Miguel

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Miguel,
It does look like the property is on the T junction. Although it seems it barely missed the front door, having the road point straight towards the windows isn’t ideal either.

      Hi Venice,
Just in terms of T-junction, this house does not pass. I cannot comment on other Feng Shui issues.

    Hello Victor,
I just found your webpage and I am terrified! I just put a deposit down for lot 80 (link for image below). I can still back out, thought. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE advise!

    https://ibb.co/dj5AZG

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Cobugi,
Looks like the road is short, but it’s still in front of a road. Without knowing more, I cannot advise you on whether you should back out.
      -Victor

      1. cobugi

        Hi Victor,
Thanks for the reply. We ended up backing out of lot 80, and going with lot 98 instead, which is also T-junction-ish.
I would really appreciate your opinion on this lot.
        Thanks in advance!

          1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

            Hi Cobugi,
The same concept applies. Check if the road goes straight to your front door. If not, the effects of T-junction are lessened, but still there.
            -Victor

    Hi Victor,

I am thinking of purchasing a home but it lies at a T junction intersection. The T junction hits at the garage. Also, the driveway is U-shaped. Any tips on if the driveway helps the situation any ?

  51. Jessica Piland

I am interested in buying a home that is at the end of a T intersection. Would it help the good energy if our neighborhood has a park at one end at the beginning of the T & our house at the other? The street is about 280 ft. Also it is in a gated community, not much daily or crazy traffic.
    Thank you

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Jessica,
If there’s not that many daily traffic, then the effects are lessened. Having a park is always more comfortable than just houses. Also, 280 feet doesn’t seem to long and wouldn’t be too big of an issue, assuming that the road isn’t too narrow as well.
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Ash,
Ideally not. But if the landscape is elevated enough, the effects of the T intersection will be lessened, but not eliminated.

    1. Simran

Is it safe to own this house?

+ Moreover there is a freeway after one street from backyard. (There isn’t any traffic noise inside the house)

      1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

        Hi Simarn,
Although the effects of the T-junction is lessened because it doesn’t face the front door, I personally wouldn’t move into that house. But don’t take my word for it.

        Hi Victor,

Main Entrance is in North-west direction

Please let me know is it safe to own this house?

We are planning to buy a home that is situated on a curved road. I am adding the Google maps link for better details.

    Hello Victor,
We are considering to buy this property. We love the area, it is close to school and shopping. However, the house that we like is located at a T intersection.

Below is the link to the property:

    https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/25939916_zpid/

Is it good for buying or will it have negative effects on health and wealth?
    Please advice. Thank you.

    Regards,

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Ruthie,
I personally would avoid houses that are on the T-intersection. The negative effects are not limited to health and wealth. The effects are worse if the road leads straight to your front door.
But if you really like the house, please don’t get a professional Feng Shui review before making your decision.
      -Victor

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Bianca,
It’s a little hard to tell from the view. Just know that the effects are worst if the road comes straight to the front door.

  54. Claudia

Hello Victor. This is so interesting to me. To be honest i never heard of this til today. We’re in the process of buying a new home. I showed a picture of it to my Vietnamese friend and his reaction was not what i wanted. He mentioned that the Entrance to my front door should not be a direct one. I’m reading the article above and it’s amazing me. Where can I upload a picture so you can tell me your interpretation?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Claudia,
From what I see, the house is ok because (1) there’s quite a distance from the road to the house and (2) the road does not go straight to this house, but the house next to it.
      -Victor

    1. qk

I forgot to mention that the front door faces East and there is another street that goes straight into that shared driveway hitting the T intersection into the garage. thanks!

    2. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi qk,
If it’s curved and towards garage, its effects are minimal. You should be good!

  56. Pavi Sri

Hi Victor, thanks for the very practical solutions and the article.
How about this house three Five seven two, Gibson ave , santa clara?

-This is a the T junction and a eichler house (meaning the front is full of glass walls )
    -House is north facing
-Entrance is also north facing, towards the T- street.

    Any remedies for this house?

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Pavi,
T-junction can hardly be remedied. The best you can do is to put some trees or bushes that acts as a fence. You’d also have to consider the direction of where the T-junction is coming at you. It’s best to get a consultant to help you with this.
      -Victor

  57. Rochelle Ballano

    Hi Victor,
This property that i am interested looks like is on a T. Can you confirm. The owner of the home is a chinese gentleman and he has painted the front door red. Here it is on redfin:

It does seem like the main door and garage have missed the direct “T” ing, but i am not sure. Can you look at the google map and give me some pointers 461 Breckenridge Dr, Aurora, IL 60504

Hi Victor!!! I am currently looking to build a house but the lots are on the T junction like the lot 18 and lot 100 they are both slightly to the right if you look from the street. Is it going to be a problem? Thank you!

  60. Analyn Cutamora

    Hi Victor,

Our property is located inside the subdivision but the lot is in T junction, the lot no. is Block 1 Lot 17, we choose this lot following my husband (01) and mine (17) birthday. The maindoor and small fence are both facing the T junction. My family is suffering financial and health problem for two years after we transfer in this house, we are thinking to give up this property. Hoping for your advise. Do you think that putting bagua mirror outside my house can help?

    Thank you.

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Analyn,
Without further details, I cannot suggest you anything. You need to speak to a professional for this. A bagua mirror can do little to help with the strong incoming Qi.

  61. Garrick

    Hi Victor,

We’ve recently purchased a townhouse, with the 2 windows on the east side facing a t-junction inside a small subdivision. The main door is facing south.

We would like to hear your thoughts on what you think the impact of Qi to our home? And what can we possibly do to minimise the strong incoming Qi if it does.

If required to make an amendment, one of the option we thought about was to add shutter to the windows to cover them completely. Happy to hear your thoughts.

Please refer to the link below to access the plan. Thanks.

P.S. if the link doesn’t work, appreciate it if you can respond to my email add, and I’ll send you the photos.

    Cheers,
    Garrick

      1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

        Hi Janice,
First, don’t use my response as the basis of your decision. A t-junction is not always bad. In fact, some can be good, if the direction is good and the Form doesn’t bring harm.
Using what’s in this article, and based on what I see, there aren’t much you can do to mitigate because of lack of land. But again, the T-junction could be a good thing so no mitigation is needed.
Let me know if you need a deeper dive into this. It’ll be $195 to review just the T-junction, but I’ll need an EXACT compass measurement.

  62. Carolyn

    Hi Victor,

Really appreciate all your expertise on the subject!
Would you mind taking a look at this home? I noticed there’s a curve in the T intersection and wanted to be sure it’s not too bad. What worries me is the wandering spirits you mentioned too.

Would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

    Dear Victor,

Hi – I’m looking to purchasing a house on a t-junction which hits the front door. The house faces south west.
The T junction doesn’t have high traffic and most cars will turn left or right before reaching the T…
Upon entering the house, my entire family said this feels like home but my parents says it’s bad Feng Shui.. any insights is appreciated

Also, is there any issue with the pond behind the property? This picture does not show it, but there will be a pond at the back, southwest of property…

    Hi Victor,

My property is on a curved L zone, where the street is facing the garage, and not the front door. The street is mainly residential, and low speed through out the day . is that considered bad?

Also, how can I email you ?

      Hi Eden,
This really depends on what Forms are present and which direction the road is coming.

    Hi Victor,
Are there any negatives to a home located at one of the four corners of a four-way stop sign?
    Thank you,
    Brad

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Brad,
There’s a rule where this might bring peach blossom, which can be good/bad depending on the situation. However, in Feng Shui, there’s no “blanket rule”. Meaning, the road, where the house is, and other factors should also be considered for an accurate assessment.

    Hi Victor,

We are looking to buy a house which is in a residential road. The door of the house is not facing the t-junction road, only some of the windows are. The t-junction road facing is a dead end but has another road leading out to another street. The windows are also only facing the lane where cars turn in (not come out). Is this ok?

    Hello,

I have a question. Iam German and I don’t believe a lot in the concept of Feng Shui. I see some things that make sense, while others are too much based on believe or not believe.
Anyway that is not the point, my wife is Chinese , we live in Indonesia. She is not totally into Feng Shui but ya a lot of chinese people seem to consider these kind of things when buying a house.

That being said we just bought a house that is placed at a t-junction. Anyway the house is in a closed living complex and the roads are not very long, it is quiet and the traffic is at a very small minimum. Children can walk freely around this area, it has no passing traffic. Usually only people who live there will pass by when going to work or when come home from work. And like I said this housing complex is pretty small.
So from my personal point of view and common sense it is not much of a problem at all. Anyway iam not able and also don’t want to judge all the Feng Shui rules.

My question finally, does it not also depend on the Kua of the people who live in that house? Or is that irrelevant?

Thank you very much, even as a someone who doubts I enjoy your articles.

    Greetings from Indonesia,

    Marius

    1. Marius Schmidt

      Hi again,

I don’t want to sound arrogant or ignorant so I want to add something to my comment.

I see a lot of things about Feng Shui that makes a lot of sense and can be explain with logic. It only goes too far for me if people directly connect certain situations with luck/bad luck and gain/loss.

Your article is actually a good example and i am thankful for it. For me saying avoid a t-junction house at all costs is bit too much.
      I understand things like
Color, air circulation, pollution, direction of a house, how and where to place something and so on and they make perfect sense to me. Just if all this things are ok and the “problems” can be kept at a minimum , it is just too much for me to say a t-junction house automatically means bad luck and should be avoided. This is more like a religious or superstitious thing in my opinion.
Or when people pretend there is no 4th floor and naming it 5th floor ( I don’t even know if that is still Feng Shui) . I don’t support this kind of believe.

      Just wanted to clarify this.

      Marius

    Hi Victor,

I have three questions for you if you don’t mind me asking too much.

    1) We are suggested a house by our real estate agent on a cul-de-sac with a round about in the middle (please see #3 on the plot plan from the link https://windingroadinlexington.com/the-neighborhood/ ). Do you think we should stay away from this property or it is okay to consider it as one of our considerations?

    2) Is a house on a dead end street but not the last house bad feng shui?

    3) Is the octogonal ceiling master bedroom good or bad feng shui?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Victor,
So glad to read your article and get to know about Feng Shui.
We are interested in one house but concerned about the negative Qi. Please can you have a look at the map and share your advice?
    https://www.redfin.com/CA/Rosemead/3732-Greendale-Ave-91770/home/7050730
It is a T-junction within residential area so there are only cars from the neighbors or guests coming to the house. Also, the road is straightly facing the neighbor but this house and the neighbor are all at the end of the street.

    THANK YOU!
    Angelina

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Angelina,
T-junctions can sometimes be a good thing, depending on it’s direction relative to your house. It’s just one of the many things to consider. I suggest you find a local expert to learn more about the good and negative Qi because a more detailed analysis and compass reading is required.

Hi Victor, the house is located on 95 shore Rd. Manhasset NY, the road is L shape. There is dead end at the end of road. Is not on a busy road, only people live on the street, and visitor, very quite neighborhood. Behind this house there is a pool, and bay view from the master’s room’s window. Is this house a good house or bad location? Thank You

  79. Davina

    Hi Victor
I really need your help urgently as I have to make a decision tomorrow. Basically I am considering renting an apartment
It is 4 old house in a row and renovated and modernised. The house number is 9 and my flat is number 1, unfortunately it is at T junction.
The road facing is quite short, approx 12 larger houses on each side and there are cars parked on both sides it is 2 way road and I think cars will not be driving much faster than 20 mph as it is residential.

I am really worried as I have had spirits visiting me in the past and it really scares me.
I really need to sign the contract tomorrow but I don’t know if I should. Is a T junction worse than living in a house number 4 ?

Hope you can help, thanking you in advance

    1. Davina

      Hi Victor

I forgot to mention… at the other end of the road, opposite the apartment… is also another row of houses.

    Hi Victor.
Our home is at a T junction . You can see back if stop sign out the front door. The stop sign is at the end of a short curved road so it slows traffic.
First off the 55 year old married woman that lived here died suddenly in hospital and husband listed home and we bought it . 5 months later when we were not home we were victims of a home invasion, took all valuables. I find myself depressed Or unable to make decisions clearly and often in this home. I was forced out of my job this year replaced with another I did not ask for which may be OK in the end. Past 10 years when family comes over for holidays or gatherings there are huge fights and misunderstandings that ensue. My address adds up to 19 which I understand is also unfavorable. I am deciding whether or not to construct a 6 foot rod iron decorative gate at my entry . Please forward your thoughts in gate and overall how we can clean up some of this energy.
    Gratefully,
    Vicki

      Hi Vicki,
I’m sorry for the unfortunate events. I can’t help much without fully understanding the situation, but if the incoming Qi is strong and negative, you should find ways to minimize its impact. One way is to put trees and bushes to block its incoming energy. It’ll help minimize the impact but can’t fully be used as a cure.

    Dear Victor Cheung,

I live at the 2nd floor of a hostel, and my side of the building (as well as my room’s single window) faces an intersection. Meanwhile my room door faces away from it. Directly in front of me is the hostel carpark, where cars often come in and go out. Leading out of the carpark is a slightly curved two-way road and before reaching the main exit of this road there are smaller junctions that cars also turn into

where my window and my room is facing.
I stay on the 2nd floor. Curly brackets is an estimate of the width of my room.

I hope the diagram is clear enough and I’d like to ask Mr Cheung if I am affected by alot of negative-flow this way, despite not living on the ground floor. This hostel and the roads mention are ALL within school grounds, so accidents rarely ever happen despite the often movement of cars in and out. My window has opaque blinds that I assume can block the incoming flow, however I would prefer being able to receive natural light and air sometimes.
I would also like to ask if it is bad for me to position the bed in my room facing the mentioned window, since I would be consequently sleeping facing out towards the intersection. Of course when I sleep, the blinds will always be down. If I placed a portable clothes rack between the window and bed, will it be able to help block negative flow of energy?
I am considering installing additional blinds in front of the window itself so that during daytime, I can still receive some natural light WHILE having a long cloth (although not opaque), cover and block me from incoming flow. I would like to know if installing not-fully-opaque curtain can help block incoming flow.

Hi Victor, thanks for a great and informative article. One thing I haven’t found an answer for online is, what if the backyard is facing the T-junction? Furthermore, the backyard has a swimming pool, and the fence is made of concrete blocks.

    Hello Victor,

Hope it’s going well. I have appreciated reading your comments on this thread, thanks for sharing your insight. My partner and I are looking at possibly purchasing a home that is on the end of a dead end street. There is very little front yard space and I have concerns about the ability to install anything to block the energy headed towards this house. I would be very grateful if you could look up 42 Gilmour Place, Hamilton, Ontario and let me know your thoughts on this one.

Just a question, if you have business the front shop is on main road which is fine but the bsck of the shop with a fence had a t junction is that bad? We thinking of getting this shop but not sure if This back if the shop t junction is bad ????. Can you advice thank you

      Hi Tom,
I can’t give you a definite answer based on the information you gave. It is possible the T-junction would be good for your business, but how it’s shaped and its direction needs to be checked. I suggest you contact a consultant to assist you.

    Hi victor
We are planning to buy this house at the end of cul de sac and the street is a two way but to get to the dead end u have to drive up this street which faces the house but the door and house sees to tilt away from the street and I feel comfortable when I’m outside of the house because the front yard planted some small trees that blocks the front and the window of the living room that faces the street. But isn’t it bad to have trees blocking front of the house ? https://www.google.com/maps/place/7+Tulip+Ct,+Albertson,+NY+11507/@40.7700173,-73.6616453,3a,75y,346.13h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sS55SIIzjp_LLqqMIxIBg1Q!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x89c2887305f695d3:0xef2e5f6a8cafafee?hl=en-us

Hi Victor and thank you for the insights.

A house I’m considering has a small – 5m deep- back patio/garden facing a 100m long T-junction. The main entrance is actually on the other side, but the bedrooms face the garden, which faces the T-Junction. There’s a 2m / 6ft tall wooden fence, and no vegetation.

    Hi Victor
I am about to place an offer on a house which has the right side of the house situated opposite a road. The garage and the master bedroom (which is above the garage) faces the opposite road. The main front door may only be partly facing the opposite road. The opposite road (which is approx. 30 metres or so) is an access to garages and parking for a dozen or so residents so I think traffic should be light and it isn’t a through road. If facing the road from the main master bedroom window, you can see at the far end a row of trees and behind that is a railway. Please can you advise whether this layout will be OK in terms of Feng Shui? I’m thinking that maybe placing some crystals on the window ledge of the master bedroom may help? Although, I’m not too sure what types of crystal to buy. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Also to say, I can send you a link to the house if it helps. I would prefer to send it via email if that’s the case. Thanks

    Hi Victor
Please can you advise. I am thinking of placing an offer on a house that is at the end of a T Junction. Mainly the right side of the house faces the opposite road (which is an access road to garages and only a dozen or so residents park there. It is not a through road). The garage and master bedroom window faces the opposite road and I think the front door is only partly facing the road. When looking from the master bedroom window, you see the road (approximately 30 meters long) and at the other end, there are a row of trees. We love the house and was thinking that maybe buying some crystals to place on the master bedroom windowsill might ward off any negative energy. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Dear Victor,

Can you kindly help check this house and tell me any road hit is present?
I showed it to Indian Vaasthu pandit and he told that it does not have any road hit, only the other house to the left side has road hit. Hi Srinu,
A house at the end of T-junction is not always bad by default. Without taking a deeper look, it does seem the house is not at the end of the road.

    Hi,

Thank you for your time in answering the questions.
I would appreciate your thoughts on two things about a house I am considering.

    1) Front door opens to stairs going up- A friend says that the fact the first thing you see – when you open the front door – is a flight of stairs going up is a bag thing. The rest of the house is open concept and has lots of light. I am more likely to enter the house through the garage door at the back.
Is this layout a problem? Any potential solutions?

    2) House by the side of a crossroad – The house is in a gated community, not by a through traffic street, some guests parking by the side and front of the house. The house is raised from the land by 6-7 stairs. Hence headlights wouldn’t shine into the house. But it is at the side of a crossroad.

I would like to show you a pic to illustrate what I am saying, but I don’t see the option to upload a pic. I apologize, but if you don’t mind, please select ‘site map’ (the third link on the top LEFT) in the URL https://www.tripointehomes.com/ca/san-bernardino-county/birch-bend-at-shady-trails/

On the site map, please scroll to the Bottom Left.
    The house is Lot 39/4B.
Between Bolzano Alley and Stresa Lane (again, closer to the Bottom Left of the site map).

In your opinion, do the above 2 facts present an issue? Thank you for your time and attention.

  97. JT

Thanks for the insightful post, Victor.

What are your thoughts on this home? The smaller street at this t-lot is a cul-de-sac with only 10 homes (5 on each side). The longer street curves at the end with a cul-de-sac as well.

I believe the master bedroom is above the garage so it’s facing the T-lot intersection. However, there are pillars and a front courtyard with a gate to prevent any accidents and added security. I’m not sure about feng shui though.

Please feel free to view in “street view” mode.

Hi. I was interest in this house. The lot is at the T intersection, but it’s on land, so the energy actually hits the property but not anywhere near the house. What are your thoughts on this for the 20467 address?

  99. Pat

    Hello Victor,

We are strongly thinking of buying a house facing a T junction. The facing road is residential, not loads of traffic, most, but not all people coming out of that street would be passing our house ( it is not a dead end). The facing street is approximately 300 meters long, very straight and would be wider than the width of the house. The house is facing east, with the street coming from east to west, if that makes a difference?
Strangely enough we are presently renting and half of the house is on a T junction, and frankly, I have been extraordinarily stressed since our arrival, although I had assumed it’s because of the house search and having moved to a new area.

    Thank you!

Hi Victor, thanks for such a great article with all the background info. We are considering purchasing a house with a garage facing a T-junction and after reading through all the comments, I am still unsure whether feng shui wise this is ok? If it is not good feng shui and since it’s a garage, obviously we can’t plant a tree in front of it to slow the qi, what would be a better way to remediate it? Thank you for your guidance! Hello Victor,
Thanks for such an informative article on the whole T-intersection/poison arrow subject.
I had no idea there could be so many contributing factors.
    Here´s my story.
We moved into this apt over a café a little over three years ago. (It is in Porto, Portugal.)
It is not at the end of the T intersection but is very near it.
    ____
I . Our bldg is at the north west corner of the intersection before you cross the street to get to
I the bar of the T on the other side, if that makes sense.
The street that is the body of the T is short and one way going away from the top of the T.
The top of the T is on way going east.
Also directly across the street from us are two ruined, crumbling and decaying former residences.
They are overrun with plant life. The neighborhood cats love to hang out there.

The first 2.5 years were fine. Fairly quiet and peaceful. The past year has been a nightmare.
I have dubbed 2023 the year of suffering and loss for us. My husbands work dried up, interest rates and our mortgage went up and drug dealers moved into the area and started using the corner to do business and playing loud music at all hours of the day and night.
I should say that the drug dealers started hanging out here when the street that is the top of the T was closed at one end for a storm drain project. This effectively closed the street to through traffic and lasted for about 8 months.

I asked my astrologer in the US if we should stay or move. He responded that we should move, that it is too dangerous to stay here!

We have sold the apt and are planning to move to a quieter city a little south of here called Aveiro in January.
    What are your thoughts?
I have been trying to find a cosmic answer for why this intersection is so malign and got nowhere.
My gut instinct tells me that there is something wrong with this corner.
Thank you for any insight you might have.

Two things, it is a quiet neighborhood, lots of children and families. Also, the road that leads to towards the house (the poison arrow I guess), is curved before it reaches the end that is towards my house.

I have had positive experiences here. I did have a large expense when I moved in to replace my water pipes; do you think that could be seen as a severe loss o money? Is it something that keeps happening or is one loss enough 😉

    1. Free Lancer Admin

      Hi Kelley,
This totally depends, and also depends on the direction of where the road is coming from. It’d be a great idea to hire an expert to take a look.

  105. Elvah V

Hello Victor – great article and some great advice in the comments section.

I’ve only recently come across this concept of the bad luck T-junctions can bring (as in literally last night 12/02/24). I purchased this home as an investment property since 2017 and rented it out until I moved in with my daughter in the last quarter of 2022. The bad luck described seems to be accurate to a point (illness, job loss, money issues, relationship issues etc), and I am eager to deflect this in whatever way possible. The poison arrow to the house is on a very,. very long road. On the opposite side of this poison arrow road is another long road for traffic flowing the opposite direction (this seems to be to the side of the house and not directly in line with my property).

The house has fencing in front and sides (not solid but a barrier nonetheless) and some trees and small bushes; unfortunately, I was not aware of this when I moved in and I removed all the tall trees and bushes to “open up” the house (face palming myself!!!)

Can you please provide some advice for my property at 23 Boundary Rd, Newcomb VIC 3219 (Australia)? The following points may reduce the overall negativity of this (I think and I hope):

    1. The bedroom windows (main bedroom) and windows of the main living room are the only windows or entrance doors that face the street directly; these are covered by blinds.

    2. None of my doors actually open into the road – the front entrance and back doors face away from the street. The front door is located on the left side of the house, and the back door (which we use as our main entry) is at the back of the house, so not directly facing the road.

    3. Wooden slatted fencing that faces the road running from end to end of the property and bushes (small) with some trees inside my property along the fence

I will go out today and purchase banga convex mirror and wonder if placing them on the inside (mirror facing out to the street) along the windows that face the street will help deflect this Qi?

Should I purchase one for the external fence and/ or walls as well?

Do I need anything for my front and back doors?

My bedroom is the main bedroom that faces this road I have my workstation facing the street (I work from home permanently and have no other place for the office setting), and my bed is behind my workstation with my feet facing the windows. Should I change anything in this setting?

I know it’s a lot but I really want to change the trajectory of my life for the better this 2024. Your advice is deeply appreciated.

  106. Helena Burks

I’ve lived at a T intersection for almost a decade, and never experienced any issues. Our house is at a quieter suburb in California a block away from a main road with still no problems. In life it’s all about your state of mind, and feng shui has nothing to do with everything. That’s Asian old-fashioned superstition.

    1. Victor Cheung Listing Owner

      Hi Helena,
This is a great comment, which just goes to show that not all houses at end of T-junction is by default bad. Whether one really lives at the end of a T-junction also depends on a few other factors. People nowadays see a T-junction and assume it’s bad, which it is not. Again, thanks for your comment.
